Kate Osborne, Learning & Skills Officer at RAMM visited Freefall tonight and got everyone posing is fake fur coats for a live photo frame in their new exhibition.
RAMM will be reopening on December 16th with two stunning exhibitions, one of which is the Road to Rome, all about the 18th century grand tour. It features as its star item a wonderful portrait of Devon MP John Rolle Walter wearing an expensive fur cloak. It is painted by Pompeo Batoni, the portrait painter of choice at the time.
The coat you see is a replica cloak like that worn by John Rolle Walter. It’s a light moment within the exhibition! The exhibition ends in early May 2012.
We perfected holding quills, music sheets and books to make us look learned. And had the joy of a stuffed toy dog to indicate our wealth. Rather interesting contrast to our visit to the Harvey-Regan exhibition, see our Visual Art entry and you’ll see why!
